No. The instructions include how to easily defeat the suspension warning message.
Can any mechanic install this Lincoln Mark VII Coil Spring Conversion?
We have plenty of shade-tree mechanics install these kits all the time. If they can do it, someone who turns wrenches for a living should blow through it! All kits come with illustrated instructions and we even provide a toll-free number in case someone has a question.
Does my mechanic have to cut or weld anything?
No, never. This Lincoln Mark VII Coil Spring Conversion is designed to be a bolt-on installation. Installation instructions are included with a toll-free tech line, in case the installer has a question.
Can I convert only one end?
The problem you'll need to deal with if you convert the one end and not the other, is you'll have to play around with the sensor(s) on the converted end to try and trick the module into thinking every things ok. In other words, you'll need to find what we call "the sweet spot" that makes the module think that end is already where it needs to be and to continue on. If nothing is done after converting that end, the system WILL give you a check suspension message pretty quick and not make any adjustments.
Do you have a time estimate for the Lincoln Mark VII Coil Spring Conversion install?
It could vary, depending on the shop doing the install, but it should take approx. 3-4 hours for the basic kit install. You'd have to add a 1.5-2 more if they're installing the optional shock package.
Will the car sit lower than it did with the air?
No, our Lincoln Mark VII Coil Spring Conversion is designed to be at regular factory ride height.
Do I have to replace the shocks and struts when I convert?
No. Right now, your vehicle has an air spring with a totally separate shock absorber/strut(one can be replaced without the other). We don't want to force you to buy something that you may have already replaced. If they haven't been replaced before, it would be a good idea to replace them when doing the conversion.

Lincoln Mark VII Coil Spring Conversion
These instructions are furnished only to give you an idea of the task at hand. When installing your kit, please use the instructions furnished with the kit, as they will include pictures to aid with the install as well as the suspension warning light-out instructions.
* Raise the vehicle where the tires are off the ground, using the factory recommended lifting points.
* Safely support the vehicle using jack stands and/or vehicle hoist.
* Once supported, remove all 4 wheels.
* Remove the brake line bracket and brake caliper and set the caliper to the side.
* Disconnect the sway bar links on both sides.
* Remove the air line from the air spring solenoid. (Go here if you need help disconnecting the air line)
* With a large flat blade screwdriver, remove the half-moon solenoid retaining clip.
* Rotate the solenoid to its first step and allow the solenoid to pop out slightly(half an inch) so the air will escape.
* Only after the air is depleted, twist the solenoid again, then pull it out completely.
* Remove the square locking clip on the bottom of the air spring.
* Using a flat blade screwdriver, push down and release the small plastic locking clip(that keeps the top ring from twisting) and twist the ring counter clockwise to unlock the air spring.
* Push air spring down, then pull it out completely.
* Remove the three nuts from the upper strut mount.
* Push down the strut and pull it outwards and to the side.
Repeat steps for the other side of the vehicle.
* Once all of the supplied mounting hardware has been installed, set the front coil spring in place.
* Using a floor jack under the lower control arm, start to raise the lower control arm slowly, being careful to center spring.
* Once the spring is centered in both spring perches, jack up the lower control arm more and compress spring until you can bolt up the upper strut mount and stabilizer bar links.
* Reinstall the brake line and caliper assembly.
Repeat steps for the other side of the vehicle.
* With a large flat blade screwdriver, remove the half-moon solenoid retaining clip.
* Rotate the solenoid to its first step and allow the solenoid to pop out slightly(half an inch) so the air will escape.
* Only after the air is depleted, twist the solenoid again, then pull it out completely.
* Remove the two bottom bolts that hold the air spring to the lower control arm.
* Using a flat blade screwdriver, push down and release the small plastic locking clip(that keeps the top ring from twisting) and twist the ring counter clockwise to unlock the air spring, then pull it out of the vehicle.
* Being careful NOT to over-extend the brake hose, remove the stabilizer bar link attaching nuts and bushings. NOTE: You may need to remove the hold holding the brake line to vehicle or the rear axle.
* After supporting the rear axle with stands, remove the lower shock bolts and lower the rear suspension slightly.
* Position both mounts 1- 1.5 inches deep.
(NOTE: If the ride height is off, slide this mount in to raise the vehicle slightly and move it out to lower)
* While positioned tilt forward, bolt the bottom plates on both sides through the lower control arm where the bottom of the air springs were attached.
* Set both springs in place with the small pigtail end facing the top.
* Using a stand or floor jack, jack up the rear suspension to compress the springs so that you can reinstall the shock bolts and sway bar hardware
