1995 - 2002 Lincoln Continental Air Suspension Conversion Kit (FB24B)
Having Continental air suspension problems? Should you allow this system to nickel and dime you for years or install a Lincoln Continental Air Suspension Conversion Kit and be done with those problems forever? Up to now you may not have had much of a problem with the air suspension on your Lincoln, but don't think for a second that it will always be that way. The cost of maintaining an air suspension system to operate as the factory designed it, WILL increase dramatically when your vehicle reaches 10 years old!
Why? Even though vehicle manufacturers have the technology to make a rubber airbag last 25 years or more, they simply don't like that idea because they would be losing a future cash cow. That's why they thought ahead and engineered the airbags to last around the 10-year mark before needing replacement. That's right, out of warranty and your stuck paying the entire repair bill.
YEAR DIFFERENCES: The 1995 and 1996 Continental came with a four-wheel air suspension system, while the 1997-2002 Continental came with air suspension in the rear only. Why would someone with a rear only air equipped vehicle purchase a four-wheel conversion kit you ask? Who knows where Ford sourced their front coil springs, but apparently they got some junk steel, because they had a major problem with broken front coil springs on the 1997-2002 models. While most people learned they had a problem by hearing a noise while driving, some found out the hard way when the spring slid out of the perch and punctured one of the front tires! Even if you don't factor in the safety concern, the replacement cost of the spring will blow you away, as one Front replacement coil spring at the dealer is $500+ by itself! To make matters worse, this doesn't include the strut or mount.
SHOCKS: From the factory, this vehicle has rear airbags and separate rear shocks, which means one can be replaced without the other. The stock replacement rear shocks on this car are $275 each, but you can upgrade this order with shocks for just a little more. With our Conversion Kit installed, you'll never have to worry if/when the suspension is going to let you down! Our Lincoln Continental Air Suspension Conversion Kit comes with all the parts and hardware you'll need to safely and quickly convert your Continental to coil springs. Converting this vehicle to coil springs DOES NOT require any cutting or welding.
This Lincoln Continental Car Suspension Conversion Kit Includes:
- Front Brand Name Struts.
- Front and Rear Name Brand Coil Spring.
- Optional Rear Shock Package.
- Easy to follow instructions clearly show technicians how to install the new conversion kit.
- Instructions included disarming the suspension warning message on your Continental.

Lincoln Continental Air Suspension Help and Common Problems
What about the computer? Won't the suspension light come on?
No. This kit includes instructions on how to defeat the check suspension message. After you're done, you'll never see a check suspension message again!
Why is your Lincoln Continental Air Suspension Conversion Kit better than others?
Our Lincoln Continental Air Suspension Conversion Kit is comprised of the absolute best parts available which includes the Best Coil Springs on the planet!
Does my mechanic have to cut or weld anything?
Never. Our Coil Spring Conversion kit is designed for a seamless bolt-on installation. This is a pretty straightforward install that can be done by most DIY people. We don't know your mechanical abilities, so if you don't feel comfortable doing this job, we recommend having a professional install it for you.....or at least get some help from a friend.
How do I get $50 back?
For our Lincoln Continental Air Suspension Conversion Kit customers only, we'd like to buy back your old air suspension compressor/dryer assembly, as well as all 4 solenoids. All parts don't have to work, but must be Ford without any external broken parts, wires cut and/or missing.
How long should it take to install this kit?
You should figure between 3-4 hours times the shops labor rate, but this can vary greatly depending on the shop.
What will be the vehicles height afterward?
Our kits are designed to be at the vehicles normal ride height.
What is the ride like after the conversion?
A lot of people are skeptical about converting to coil springs on a luxury car, mainly because they have in their mind that it's going to ride like a lumber wagon afterward. The truth is, that couldn't be farther from the truth! Keep in mind that 90% of the vehicles today are riding on a conventional coil spring and they ride great. Does the air ride give a better ride? Sure the air gives a slightly better ride, but at what price are you willing to pay for that ride, considering what your 10+-year-old vehicle is worth these days? The 1997-2202 model had front coils from the factory to begin with, so you've been used to riding on half coil springs, half air from day one anyway. On a 1995 or 1996 model, replacing just the two front air springs(the strut is separate on this vehicle) costs over $400, not including labor. You can quickly see the cost of maintaining the air suspension system on this vehicle is quite high.
What are the advantages of replacing the rear shocks?
The rear shocks on this model Continental came from the factory with an adjustable dampening design, which are very expensive($250+each) to replace. Now that you're converting from the high-tech air system to a conventional coil & shock system, the electronic shocks are now rendered useless. This means they won't automatically adjust and are stuck in the firm position. For the absolute best possible ride, we strongly suggest replacing these shocks at the same time as installing the conversion kit. Keep in mind that the only time we have a complaint about the ride quality of this conversion, is when the customer didn't replace the shocks at the same time. Btw, the rear shock option includes both rear shocks and the additional shipping, which is less than just one replacement.
Why should I install a four wheel kit when I only have rear air?
The 1997-2002 Continental came with a rear only air suspension system combined with a four-wheel automatic adjustable dampening strut and shock system all rolled into one. The front utilized an electronic strut with a conventional coil spring, which at first thought is a pretty tough design. The problem is they had a MAJOR problem with the front coil springs breaking. Just a crack you ask? No, a full blown break where a broken coil can puncture one of the front tires!
